Laser hair removal is an easy, almost pain free way to achieve the hairless
look you’ve always wanted – permanently. It is one
of the most safe and effective treatments on the market today.
As the treatment is still relatively new, there are still many
myths and misconceptions about it. We try to approach some of the
most common ones here, but please feel free to address any other
questions you may have during one of our free consultations.

Myth: Laser hair removal
is one of the most effective solutions on the market for getting
rid of unwanted hair. It is also one of the easiest and painless
methods available. Laser hair removal is the only treatment which
has a permanent solution. Other readily available solutions such
as depilatory crèmes, waxing, shaving
and plucking are only temporary solutions, and may actually encourage
hair growth. Electrolysis can be incredibly painful, and may require
many sessions before it is effective. Electrolysis also does not
remove small hairs, or hairs that have not yet surfaced. Laser hair
removal is the only way to effectively remove all unwanted hair,
in as little as three painless treatments.

Myth: Laser
hair removal is a safe an effective method, especially when performed
by a qualified technician. At Main West Laser, all of our staff
are highly-trained, certified technicians who are able to answer
any questions you may have about the process. We can help you
best determine the method of treatment for you skin and hair
types. Laser hair removal is much safer than electrolysis, and
carries a significantly lower risk of side effects, including
infection. Laser hair removal is safer for skin as well – we
use patented ChillTip technology to cool the epidermis while
the treatment is applied. There are no burns and no discomfort.

Myth: Laser hair removal may be used on tanned
skin; however the laser may have to be turned down, thereby
reducing its effectiveness. It is recommended that you do not
tan prior to your laser hair removal session to avoid creating
temporary blotchy areas on the skin.

Myth: Laser hair removal is effective on all areas of the body.
Certain areas with different types of hair may require a different
treatment schedule, however all hairs are affected by laser treatments,
allowing you the freedom to remove hair permanently on any part of
your body.
